Stem Cell Research

Stem cells are just cells that can change into other cells, like heart cells, nerve cells, muscle cells, and skin cells and many more.  They may also become proven as use for cure for some medical conditions.  Stem cell research may benefit many conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, spinal cord injuries, heart disease and cancer.  The only stem cells that have helped patients so far are adult stem cells.

I believe that we should keep and continue to research and to find cures for cancer and heart disease and many more sicknesses that we need to find cures to.  So that we are able to save lives that are being taken and not have people even have to go through anything.  Stem cells can now be artificially grown and transformed into specialized cell types with characteristics consistent with cells of various tissues such as muscles or nerves through cell culture.  Cell culture is the process in which one is able to make cells by man.

So what is the controversy all about? Those who value human life from the point of conception, oppose embryonic stem cell research because the extraction of stem cells from this type of an embryo requires its destruction. In other words, it requires that a human life be killed. Some believe this to be the same as murder.
